"The audience could not help smiling, singing along and tapping their feet, to the music played by this uplifting band."

JOURNEY BOUND
“Able to leap tall genres in a single bound, Journey Bound is a versatile musical vehicle that likes to cover lots of different musical styles, including: Gospel, Folk, Pop and even a little bit of Country and Rock. Journey Bound comprises: Wendy Snook, Sharon Start, John Wilson, and Maurie Richardson.”
Journey Bound commenced as a group early in 2013 but the originating tracks can be traced down many years prior. Together, they create a kaleidoscope of sounds that can be hard to define.
There are the much loved traditional, gospel and folk songs but there are also traces of bands such as The Beatles and The Seekers. The music whilst occasionally serious, aims to be joyful. So come along, and share some time with Journey Bound. We're coming to a destination near you!

SHaron Start
Sharon's passion for music was apparent from a very young age. In kindergarten, her teacher commented that she had a very good sense of rhythm, which comes in handy when playing percussion in Journey Bound.
Sharon has a long history of choral experience and is a founding member of Cranbourne Chorale and currently Alto section leader/choreographer of Just Harmony choir. In her day job Sharon works as a Performing Arts instructor at Cranbourne West Primary School and along with hubby Phill has lived in Cranbourne for 27 years and raised three sons.
Sharon plays ukulele as her main instrument in Journey Bound and also loves harmonising with the rest of the crew.

wendy snook
Wendy has been singing publically since the age of four, and hasn’t stopped since. In her teens she took up ukulele, then guitar, followed by 12 string guitar, recorder, tin whistles, spoons, other ‘illegitimate’ folk instruments and dance calling in her 20’s as part of the bush band “Scruffy Chook”, (the name being a parody of the ‘Mucky Duck Bush band’ in Western Australia). Scruffy Chook performed Australian dance music and contemporary songs, as well as gospel music live and on TV.
Three decades on, with much experience in choir, solo and congregational music leadership, it has given her much joy to return to Australian , American, English, Celtic and Swedish folk music through the chromatic and diatonic autoharps, 6 and 12 string guitars, Ubass, tin whistle, her new instrument, the nyckelharpa, and percussion with spoons and wooden ‘bones’. She also enjoys singing melodies and harmonies in different genres, and playing original songs written on her own and by and with Sharon Start.

JOhn Wilson
Hi : I'm John Wilson, the bass player, and also some percussion and vocals.
My musical history is that I learned guitar as a child, my teacher was a classical guitarist and I didn't want to learn that ( much to my regret now) . My mother says that I told her I only wanted to play guitar so others could sing for Jesus. Nearly all of my music career to this date has been just that, being involved in Christian church music teams in various churches over about 40 years, being a guitarist, bassist and worship leader. My journey into journey bound, came out of the blue; a mutual friend of mine and Colin Smith advised me that this group of which Colin was a part needed a sound engineer, and if I was interested to contact Colin, he rang me first and invited me to meet the group . The next week I met them, unknown to me my friend had told them I also played bass guitar, which the group also needed , there began my journey into journey bound.

Maurie Richardson
Music has always been a big part of my life. I was brought up in the Methodist Church and my early years were filled with Church music. My voice broke early and like many young boys I lost singing for several years before finding my new voice and a renewed passion in music.
At about the age of 14, I was introduced to the guitar and that started me on a life-long journey. “Bob Dillon”, “Peter, Paul and Mary”, “The Seekers” and “Simon and Garfunkel” were all early influences.
I have been a teacher for over 40 years and music has always been a big part of my teaching.
I retired from full-time teaching several years ago but I still teach guitar at the University of the Third Age, and Ukulele at my local Community Centre.
I love community music, choral singing and singing in choirs. I sing Bass with Cranbourne Chorale, a community choir in the City of Casey, and I also sing with Côr Meibion Cymreig Awstralia - the Australian Welsh Male Choir, and with Excelsis Choir.
I play rhythm guitar and sing folk, pop, rock, gospel music and anything else that takes my fancy.
One of my greatest joys is when my children all come round and bring their instruments and our home fills with music, singing and laughter.
Now I just enjoy the opportunity to make music, sing, and share my love of music with others.
